The Orenaug Poetry Group (OPG) is a chapter of the Connecticut Poetry Society. Ours is a welcoming group that supports and encourages the writing of each member. Meetings begin with an opening poem and/or meditation and a writing prompt exercise. Participants can then share work, opting to seek feedback or to simply read. Poetry Workshop Feedback Sheet
The OPG covers the towns of Woodbury, Watertown, Southbury, Roxbury, and Bethlehem, all places you can see from the top of Woodbury's Orenaug Mountain. The group meets the second Saturday of each month in person. Our meeting place often changes, so if you're interested in attending, please email Sandy Carlson. Learn more about CPS membership.
Join us online for our first Sunday reading and roundtable events at 2 p.m. ET. Read a poem and/or promote any virtual events you are taking part in. If you haven't attended before, email us to get the access information.
Each month we'll feature one or two poets who may read up to four poems each (see our Tips for Featured Readers), as well as the open mic and sharing. Open mic participants are invited to share a single work. No one is required to share every session.
The readings and roundtables are recorded and are included as a part of the People and Their Poems podcast.
