Crumbs at Midnight

Crumbs at Midnight

Lying in crumbs
From eating cookies in my bed
Waking up
five pounds
heavier
It’s this that I truly dread
Peanut butter with kisses
Just makes things all better
The only thing that will stop me
Is a mouth wire to fetter
All the chunks of chocolate
Which I so very desire
It’s this curse I know
That makes me feel dire
But I wake up refreshed
Intense dreams and all
And start the day enmeshed
With crumbs intact, don’t stall
To forge forward
And begin life again
Head to the kitchen
And prepare a nice juicy hen!
