The Crying Mask

The Crying Mask

Severed rows in spaced faith
detained in protest
no one hears their voice
sad houses with closed blinds.
Cracks in the vase
as I shake fall flowers
his light given
his light taken
genuine strength and no faking
I can’t cry with this mask on.

Detached storms remain in place
justice awoken not pain
no one sees their grave
sad houses with closed blinds.
He sheds his mortal shell
life staggers out
and I break awake spirits
smiles shine in this maze
the anchor in our race
I can’t cry with this mask on.

Our procession divides
and says why
not so divine
we can leave it all behind.
Electrify sad houses with laughter
open the closed blinds
silence the pageant judgments
a singular ovation
to the plural calculation
our procession divides
and says why
not so divine we can leave it all behind.
