Solstice

Solstice

Angel, avatar
you zoom to me,

under winter skies,
through pine trees and swollen streams.

You break the echo of my room,
turn my gaze to the VanGogh prints

and the spines of your favorite tomes
on the bookshelves that frame your face.

You crack the legs of the crow on my brow,
giggle me with gossip, make me laugh at my mistakes.

When the darkness of my window pane
swallows me tonight,

I’ll recall this rendezvous
and thank you, thank you

for taking time and wasting time,
on this darkest night.
