How to Continue

Have I waited too long?
So much I still want to do
Wake up each morning with aching joints
Sometimes exhausted by late afternoon
Never expected this aging thief to come so soon
Am I hiding in broad daylight?
Behind old adventures, Facebook posts?
Telling tales of long hikes over rough terrain
Trying to remember who I am- or was
Time to awaken from this dreariness
Watch what I say to myself
Find the way back
Make the best of life’s shadows
Even if I need to make it up
Walking into the morning
Remembering to breathe
Kicking up the dirt
Disappearing into the wild
