Looking Back

She wished she had taken more time
Tried not to stuff more things into her day
Paid more attention to God's creations
Flower in bloom
Smell of wet leaves after a rain
Sunset with orange-tinged clouds
She wished she had taken more time
Caring better for herself
Sitting, talking with her daughter
Longer dog walks
Singing, dancing in the rain
She wished she had taken more time
Worrying less, blaming less
Being more grateful
Feeling less entitled
But now as the fire rages
Too late to have regrets
Wishing she had done things differently
None of this mattered now
The only option...survival
