My Son and I Eat Lunch

My Son and I Eat Lunch

there we sit, we three,
the young boy and the man of today,
shoulders blend at the shadow, one does not see
the other,
only me
as I sit, can see them both
a constant blurred aspect
we eat steamed Bao buns filled with pork belly
Chengdu dumplings with spicy sauce and bubble lattes
we talk about our separate lives
the young boy sits, imaginary, in my lap
demands my attention
they coexist in my sight
like bird and wings in the sky
